BEECHER BAY FIRST NATION RESERVE

PET FOOD BANK

It has been more than 2 years from the first day we started working in the Cheanuh Marina.
Our first mission was to rescue cats and to take food to those who willingly helped us feed the animals. To date, we rescued 70 animals from there, but our task is far away from over yet. We found a colony of feral cats who have no water, no food, who are ill, and who are devored by fleas and worms. We spend $20 at day in gas to go feed them, 40 pounds of dry cat food and 60 large cans of wet food at month. Therefore, while we traveled to feed the cats because the people who used to help us are not there any more, we noticed many dogs loose on the highway.

Some of these dogs run kilometers in heat and others just travel in search of food. We saw a poor dog who is always tied up on a chain running free with a rotten muffin he had stolen on his mouth. It was on this same day when we decided to extend our pet food services to this First Nations community. We did not know how we would be able to keep paying for the expensive gas, but we could not keep ignoring the suffering of these animals any longer. We are now delivering 265 lbs of dog food avery month and we wish to have some cans of wet food and money in the bank to cover the spay/neuter of the animals.
